This week we reviewed a Lift Plan and risk assessment for what should be a straightforward delivery, offload, and positioning of 4 lathes and 4 milling machines. We had a list of comments, including the Lift Plan not showing the weight of the machines, the lifting equipment capacity or how they would be lifted. This type of work results in a lot of serious injuries every year, which is why we have the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) and the work needs to be properly planned. We have just issued a set of site safety files to an electrical contractor working on a school project, including Construction Phase Plan, site induction, toolbox talks, site register and other records. Do you need this for your construction projects?
📞 Call 01268 293333DSEAR, smoke ventilation and Principal Designer work
It's been another busy week with enquiries for two assessments under the Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations (DSEAR), the design of smoke ventilation of two internal staircases and providing Principal Contractor support for a long-term project to upgrade some engine test cells. We have also just received orders to act as Principal Designer on two small projects: one to replace an air handling unit fan and the other to install fume extract, so we will now be putting together the Pre-Construction Information for the Client.
